Our Occupational Therapy Assistance (OTAs) work under the guidance and supervision of an Occupational Therapist, providing children with additional opportunities to practise and build skills towards their therapy goals.
Sessions are play-based, engaging and tailored to each child’s strengths, interests and individual needs, with a focus on building skills through meaningful everyday activities.
Each child’s therapy goals and support plan are developed and overseen by their Occupational Therapist, ensuring OTA sessions remain purposeful, personalised and connected to their broader therapy journey.
VITAL MEMBERS OF OUR OT TEAM
What Is Occupational Therapy Assistance?
Occupational Therapy Assistance (OTA) is a trained allied health professional who works under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
OTAs support children to work towards their goals through play-based and meaningful activities tailored to their individual strengths, interests, and needs.
All therapy plans, goals, and interventions are overseen by the supervising Occupational Therapist to ensure services remain safe, effective, and aligned with best practice.
Why Families Choose OTA Services
We understand that children participate across many environments.
That's why we offer flexible therapy options designed to support children where they feel most comfortable and where participation naturally occurs.
More Opportunities for Practice
Regular opportunities to practise skills can help children build confidence, participation, and independence in everyday life.
Guided by Occupational Therapists
Every OTA receives ongoing supervision and support from an Occupational Therapist, ensuring therapy remains individualised and goal-focused.
Cost-Effective Support
OTA services are delivered at a lower NDIS rate, allowing families to access ongoing support while maximising the value of their funding.
Playful and Engaging
Our OTAs use meaningful play, connection, and child-centred approaches to support learning and participation in ways that are enjoyable and motivating.
WHY TNH OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
The TNH Difference
At The Nurturing Hand, our OTAs are carefully selected, trained, and supported to deliver therapy in line with our core values of neuro-affirming practice, relational safety, play-based learning, and family-centred care.
Many of our OTAs are studying Occupational Therapy or hold Allied Health Assistant qualifications.
They receive ongoing mentoring, training, and supervision to ensure children and families receive consistent, high-quality support.
